As a steel fabricator, Zimkor is proud to work with the greenest, greatest raw material available on earth

building material not only for recycled content & amp; environmental total impact, but is also the best top
choice for speed of construction, safety on jobsites, and the flexibility/capability of steel materials can
bring and not just as a structural material, but also as powerful architectural expressions.
Steel construction is by far the greenest element in construction today and has been so for decades; our
USA domestic mills are state-of-the-art recycling marvels, and no other country nor building material can
claim USA Steel’s environmental benefits.
The raw materials for tomorrow’s steel structures are above the ground/in use today as other buildings,
automobiles, home appliances, etc. The raw materials for concrete and timber must be mined and/or
harvested continually.
The production of raw steel shapes (wide flange, tube, plate, etc.) accounts for about 90% of the total
life cycle energy usage in steel construction from steel. Once steel shapes are produced, the remaining
fabrication at Zimkor and installation energy usage is about 10% of the total.
Steel construction on site is quick, low man-hour intensive, and low in energy footprint.
Steel construction is versatile, beautiful, safe, and powerful. This includes the necessary misc. metals
(stairs, rails in particular) that are required even when other structural materials are used. Misc. metals
require a higher level of skill and approach for success, and Zimkor has always prided itself on being an expert in the field.

Steel scrap is captured and reclaimed by Zimkor into the recycling stream as we fabricate our work (from
unusable drops to the dust generated thru production and everything in between).

Zimkor supports and applauds all Buy American efforts and ordinances, recognizing that they result in the least impact on our environment. Foreign mills cannot make the same assurances for environmental
considerations/there is a reason imports are cheaper!
